Welcome to Dark PerFectioN!

Dark PerFectioN (DPFN) is a clan currently centered around the Xbox 360 game, Halo 3. If you're joining us from our Bungie group, please be aware that whilst major announcements will be posted there, most other community-related banter happens here, on our forums, so it's well worth signing up here, too.

The clan was founded in late 2007 by One PerFectioN, and has grown exponentially since, thanks, in part, to several Bungie Group Spotlights. We now have over 375 members, but are always looking for more from any skill level.

For the competitive gamer, you can join our regular Clan Battles, friendly games against other clans, or our more serious GameBattles - official, ranked games by Major League Gaming. All you have to do is show us your stats, and prove you can work in a team-driven environment!

For the tactical gamer, why not join in on our clan practice sessions to build up your game? Or even our Recon team, whose reports on other clans help us prepare for upcoming games - arguably the most important responsibility on the site.

If you're not that into playing, or tactics, you can always just join to make use of the discussion forums, to talk about anything from sport to music, as well as, of course, games across all platforms. We are not just a clan concentrated only on the Halo 3 game, but actually almost any one you can think of; we are always looking to expand!

So why not join Dark PerFectioN today? Become a part of one Halo's friendliest and fastest-growing clans in the Bungie community.

Latest Halo News

As many of you know MLG Toronto was shown live this weekend. It was an exciting weekend filled with upsets, clutch moments, funny moments, speechless moments, and many other moments.

This was the first International MLG tournament ever, meaning an extra-special bragging right for the winning team. It was also the first tournament in which nearly every top team's roster contained new members.

Final Boss

- Ogre1

- Ogre2

- Strongside

- Neighbour

Str8 Rippin

- T2

- Legit

- ElamiteWarrior

- Snipedown

Triggers Down

- SK

- FearItSelf

- Hysteria

- Mackeo

Instinct

- Roy

- Lunchbox

- Walshy

- Soviet (his first appearence on a top team)

Now, while there were many more team changes, these were probably the most major.

This was especially exciting for me as (mentioned before) it was the first MLG event in Canada. Also, I really wanted to see what the new Str8 Rippin side could do as well as Instinct.

Unfortunately Saturday night was not the most exciting coverage. While it was fun to watch it just seemed... decent. There were two things though that did spark interest. First off the Instinct vs Carbon series was a blast. Especially since it was one of the first times where we really got to see the newly formed Instinct play. Now what was interesting was not the 3-0 win by Instinct. It was the way they played.

At first glance they looked like any normal team, but if you watched for a while and really payed attention there was something Instinct had that was not seen in Halo 3 before. They setup, but were never afraid to rush, they were aggressive but never pushed past their limit, and when they were apart they seemed together. It was something brand new many (including I) have seen.

Although Instinct's new style of play was amazing to watch. ESPN Saturday night was Final Boss's time to shine. They really raised the bar and surpassed peoples expectations of the newly formed team. They looked unstoppable, and they were. Final Boss did not drop 1 game that night. Neighbor seemed like the perfect fit.

Although Instinct and Final Boss were great to watch I have to give props to all the other teams that night. Even the top 8 teams, who aren't yet on a par with the top 4 teams! Everyone played well, even if the matches weren't as intense as previous MLG tournaments.

I feel as though this alone isn't good enough for an article so I am also going to talk about the Final Boss vs Str8 Rippin matchup on Sunday Morning which, I must say, was one of the best days of MLG Live I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.

The FB vs Str8 match was probably the most notable. This was one match I was praying would happen, as there is bad blood between the teams now (Neighbor leaving Str8 twice and going to FB). As I watched intently the first game CTF Narrows the game quickly turned into one of my favourites. I was amazed at watching 2 of the 3 best snipers on the circuit sniping each other. It was truly incredible seeing them take off each others heads. Especially Snipedown, who had big shoes to fill.

Now there was no doubt that Str8 outslayed FB, for some reason Str8 just could not get the flag scored more then once. While FB got 2. Right at the end I think everyone held there breath as Str8 made one last charge to get that flag out. But unfortunately grabbed the flag at 14:56 about (game stops at 15:00 unless theirs a tie or flag is away).

The second game was a stalemate the entire time, both teams trying to get an edge on each other. Snipedown and Neighbor continued to take each others' heads off when they had the sniper. Unfortunately for Str8 they played a bit too aggressive and lost 50-47.

Game 3 was do or die time for Str8. They knew they had to win this or else they'd have to fight there way back through the losers bracket. But the odds were unbelievably stacked against them. Their morale was down, the crowd was on FB's side as well as the momentum and worst yet Pit King was the third game, arguably one of FB's best gametypes.

But even though the odds were highly stacked against Str8 they somehow did it. In one of the most contested matches ever at a Halo 3 event no team could get a substantial lead over the other for quite some time. Until the end, when, somehow, Elamite managed to go beast and got back to back double kills on training and long hall ensuring Str8 the game.

Even though Str8 played great that game they still were down 2-1 and had to win this game as well. The game was CTF on Onslaught, and Str8 dominated FB - more so then the TD rampage of the Str8 vs TD match-up of the same type!

After that It was game 6. The tie breaker. All the momentum FB had gained the first 2 games had officially been stopped. Both teams were backed up against the wall knowing whoever lost would be in the losers Bracket. And what would it be? AMP TS. Now both teams had players who proved themselves on this map. Snipedown for Str8 and Neighbor for FB.

Honestly I could talk about this match all I want but frankly it isn't enough. This game was arguably one of if not the best game of the tournament. That might be just because I love Str8, but I know both teams played their best, considering the situation they were under, and unfortunately it seemed as though FB couldn't handle the pressure. FB does deserve a congrats for playing their hearts out though.

You can watch the game here as well as links to the other games to the series on the same page.

Sunday Night coming soon!

Latest Site Update

So, I have a veritable mountain of things I need to do for the site: Find a new host, whip the writing team into shape, fix the 'Bungie Info' tab... So, I decided to do something completely unnecessary, and re-do the forum ranks.

Forum ranks are the things that appear under your avatars, including the rank's name and, for the vast majority of people, a number of 'pips', or little blocks, with more pips for more posts. Of course, if you reach a certain level, there just isn't enough space, so you'll get something a little bit special...

Anyway, here's the new breakdown, including the rank's name, the pip number, and how many posts you must have to obtain it. A gentle reminder here that spamming to increase your post count (especially under the planned rule changes, more on that later) will be greeted harshly - think of a tonne of bricks being dropped on you by a moderator... Something like that.

Recruit :: 0 posts.

Apprentice :: 1-9 posts.

Forum Corporal :: 10-24 posts

Forum Sergeant :: 25-49 posts

Forum Lieutenant :: 50-99 posts

Forum Captain :: 100-199 posts

Forum Major :: 200-349 posts

Forum Commander :: 350-499 posts

Forum Colonel :: 500-749 posts

Forum Brigadier :: 750-999 posts

Forum General :: 1000-1499 posts

Heroic Member :: 1500-??? posts

There are, of course, more, and these will be revealed as and when someone FireAcolyte gets them! To comment, click here.

Latest Clan Match Information

Unfortunately, the scheduled clan battle against The Mighty Legion (better known as TML) was cancelled, due to the opposition not showing up at the agreed date and time - Saturday 9th August 2008 at 3.00pm EST.

We thank all the Dark PerFectioN members who showed up, and apologies that they didn't get to play the planned games (three rounds of MLG Team Slayer on Construct).
